Setting Intentions Using Art and Mandalas

by Lauren Fallat, LPC LPAT ATR-BC

Setting intentions is a way of clarifying what you want in life and getting focused on achieving it. It's a simple practice, but it can make a huge difference in the results you achieve. Intentions are one of the most powerful forces we have at our disposal, and when used correctly, they can help us manifest anything we desire.

Intentions are important. They are the blueprints of our lives. Without them, we wander aimlessly, reacting to the random circumstances that come our way. With focused and clear intentions, we can direct our lives with purpose and meaning.

Intentions are also the key to manifesting your desires. But, before you can set intentions, you need to understand what they are and what they do. Intentions are simply goals that you set for yourself. They can be anything, from wanting to learn a new skill to wanting to find a new job. The more specific your intentions are, the better.

When you set an intention, you put yourself in a position to make it happen. You become mentally and emotionally focused on your goal, and you take the necessary steps to achieve it.

Intentions also create a sense of purpose in your life. They give you something to strive for and keep you motivated.

Three types of intentions to focus on include:

1. Achievement intentions – these are goals that you want to achieve, such as losing weight or earning a promotion.

2. Relationship intentions – these are goals that involve your relationships with others, such as getting married or becoming friends with someone.

3. Spiritual intentions – these are goals that involve your spiritual growth, such as learning to meditate or becoming more compassionate.

For many, setting intentions is the first step in creating change in their lives. Intentions provide clarity and focus, and allow us to connect more deeply with our inner selves. Art and art therapy can be a great way to connect with your inner guidance and get clear about what you want. When we create art, we tap into a part of ourselves that is often inaccessible in our everyday lives.

Many people find that making art is a helpful way to get in touch with their feelings and inner thoughts. By creating a piece of artwork that represents your intention, you can deepen your connection to your goal and increase the power of your intention. Working with an art therapist can help you to uncover hidden emotions, connect with your inner wisdom, and manifest your dreams and goals.

Mandala-making is a simple, yet powerful way to create a visual representation of your goals and intentions. When you create a mandala, you allow yourself to explore your goals and intentions in a more creative and abstract way. This can help you to uncover hidden aspects of your goals and intentions that you may not have considered before. The process begins by finding or creating an image that represents your intention. You might find an image in a magazine, online, or in nature. Once you have your image, you can begin to create your mandala around it. As you create your mandala, you may want to journal about your experience.
